Protect
your patients from the many risks they face.
You
need an effective means to keep your kids safe.
Safe
from stranger abduction. Safe from family abduction.
And
safe from patient flight.
Introducing
the world's first electronic pediatric protection system.
Why
an electronic pediatric protection system?
Protects
against all risks
Pediatric
departments face risks that go well beyond
stranger
abduction, and that just can't be countered
with
standard access-control measures that only keep
danger
out.
In
the case of family abduction and patient flight, the
danger
is already on the inside. A pediatric protection
system
provides protection against all the risks you
face.
Provides
systematic protection
Each
of your patients is protected in the same way shift
after
shift, based on your assessment of their individual
risk
profile. Your staff is freed from having to make ad
hoc
judgment calls about when patients may leave, or
who
they can leave with.
Aids
with patient flow control for security
It's
much easier to keep tabs on the flow of patients in
and
out of the department. You know exactly when a
patient
left, and when they returned; and you can set
up
automatic notification if a patient hasn't returned.
Change
security levels in an instant
When
you change the security level for a patient based
on
a new risk assessment, it is applied immediately.
You're
not relying on a paper-based system to communicate
the
change across shifts.
Provides
an audit trail
You
can document everything that happens in your
department.
This helps you improve your security, and
provides
evidence to auditors that you are proactive
and
consistent in your security measures.

Frequent
patient transfers.
A
wide range of patient ages.
Patients
who are active and mobile.
The
Pedz
system is designed for these realities of Pediatrics.
A
tag made for kids, not babies
To
understand how the Pedz system is built for your world,
start
with the Pedz tag. It's the only product offering both
tamper
protection and a cut-resistant band held inside the
tag
with a clamp. Not only is it difficult for an abductor to
remove,
but kids can play with it without causing nuisance
alarms.
If
an abductor or flight-prone patient ever does succeed in
detaching
the tag, you'll immediately be notified. An alarm
appears
in the Pedz software at computers throughout your
department. You can also be notified via pager.
Re-attachable
band for easy transport
It's
easy to transport a patient with Pedz, both with the tag
attached
and without. All it takes is a few clicks in the
software
(under password control, naturally).
For
those times when you need to remove the Pedz tag, the
re-attachable
band makes this both quick and economical.
Just
tell the software and then use the removal tool to detach
one
side of the tag. When the patient comes back, re-attach
the tag using the same band.
Automatic
re-enroll feature
When
you re-attach the tag on a patient returning from
a
medical procedure, it is automatically re-enrolled in the
system;
you don't need to go through the admit procedure
again.
All patient information is retained in the system until
discharge.
Keep
track of your patients
The
Pedz system can locate patients within the department,
too,
because kids move around, even when they're sick!
Just
select the patient from the census list, and the software
will show you the most recent location on the map of
department.
A
"cool" and fun tag
You
want your patients to feel good about wearing the Pedz
tag,
whether they're 2 or 21. A cute little "baby tag" just
isn't
going
to cut it. How about one in camouflage instead? Or in
pink?
Or with an action hero?
Each
of your patients can personalize the Pedz tag with a
selection
of skins (covers), just like their favorite game console
or
media player. When it comes time to go home, they can
take
the skin with them as a memento of their stay. Or, you
can
give your kids stickers to decorate the tag.
Personalized
protection for each patient
You
may decide that it's OK for some of your patients"given
their
age and risk profile" to travel outside the department
unescorted.
With Pedz, you can let these patient pass through
certain
exits without causing an alarm. If you prefer, you can
receive
notification if the patient doesn't return within a
certain time, or limit this access to certain
hours.
